Nature's diplomacy

The surface area of the earth is about half a billion square kilometres. Mother nature brought humans into existence on this expanse and allowed them to co-exist with her other creations. Over the years, humans have become adept to tackle the forces of nature and have evolved into civilised beings. However, the civilisation has run its course. Time has shown that mankind is not just a substantial threat to his surroundings but to himself also. Current environmental affairs such as the flaring pandemic, climate change, biodiversity loss and others are a consequence of humans disturbing the balance that nature tries to protect. The balance by nature will be restored at any cost, even if it has to be the end of humanity as we know it, but this is obviously not something we strive for. We have been given opportunities to mend our ways and it is time to learn about our impact on the balance.

The governments and leaders who lead the politically divided nations should stand united to protect the earth, our only home, by intervening with human interventions. This can begin now. The COVID pandemic provides the right opportunity to make people reflect on their responsibility to maintain a healthy relationship with nature. Each being that enjoys the rights of humanity should also fulfil their duty towards protecting this home. On a political scale, we need to suppress nations that priorities in uplifting their industrialist ideologies without looking into their adverse effects on climate or how it affects our earth. Technological developments that provide sustainable alternatives to exhaustive resources should be applauded on a larger scale. Examples need to be set by economically stable nations and then provide opportunities to third world nations, a chance to be better and more civilised in consuming available resources.

A nation like China should stop indulging in unnecessary warfare and instead develop the living conditions of its people. This country has been blamed on a global stage for allowing the spread of the nCov-19, not being able to contain it locally. China has a non-democratic government and the leadership is held by the communist party, hence one can expect that their governance may be different from what we generally observe in majority of the countries. Although, we should realise that the rate of urbanisation and the average living condition of the people of China is not a suitable one. The expansion race that china is pursuing clearly indicates their readiness for war, without paying any heed to humanity. We have fed this propaganda enough and made him so powerful that nature has intervened to wake us. It has given all a chance to make amends and tread a better path where mankind can exist more sustainably.
